Fast diesels or fast hatches? Both check the box for family man practicality and bachelor status bro levels. But which one gets your juices going?
While being possibly as far away as possible in the automotive market I think the two share more in common than most people initially think. At least in the audience they appeal to. Maybe growing up surrounded by STIs and big power Cummins' skewed my view, but whenever I found myself mentally building the perfect daily driver I rarely look elsewhere.
Which one does it for you though? Do you prefer massive torque or tight cornering? Smoke shows or sticky launches? Loud cars or louder trucks? Boost or even more boost?

I'd go for the hatch. Trucks are way too big, for me at least.

Fast diesel hatch.

Fast diesel wagon.

I like those too...was just making a play on the two choices.

I've owned a WRX hatch that I loved and had a dually diesel for a company vehicle. I have to say that the dually diesel got a bit old after a while, especially driving around town.

I kinda wanted a Dodge Ram with the Cummins and a 6 speed manual for a while, but I'm more into fast hatches.

Learned to drive a manual on just that. Loved it

Haha, Awesome! A truck like that would be my ideal motorcycle hauler.

Why limit yourself and have only one?

Hopefully my future track car tie vehicle Hahah. Try and pick up a 05ish 2wd dually with the 6 speed.

Yes on so many levels. I'll take a white one...

Indeed, sadly for me the future wife does not like wagons at all and while she has come around to hatch's she is very particular.
That means if I get one of those she will never drive it, but makes it harder to justify buying one.

Torque, rattle, roar, boost! Diesel trucks that run 11's, ahh!

I love both for very different reasons. Fuel Economy would be the biggest factor deciding between the two so I would go for the hatch. but if you ignore fuel economy I'd be a diesel truck guy for sure.
Something about a lowered dually regular cab just really does it for me.
Canadian NHRDA nationals are on August 9th in Edmonton and you can bet your ass I'll be there.

If set up well I know some diesels that can run low 12s and then throw a different tune on and pull off 23 mpg on the cruise back home.

a bit of both!

@ $4.85/gal for diesel in Canada. 23mpg is not good enough for me. but the new 2015 F250 with 440hp out of the box would suit me well.

Those are as similar as they are different. Ill check neither. Fast rwd please.

That's rough. Diesel is sitting around $3.90 down here last I checked. Still not good but certainly better

If snow weren't a problem I'd rock a rwd wagon for sure

Oh yeah. I always forget. Some people have to deal with snow lol.
